New face of Czechnica Combined Heat and Power Plant
The construction of a New Czechnica Power Plant is a project of great importance for the Wrocław conurbation, as we are talking about a facility that supplies heat to Siechnice and a large part of Wrocław. Until now, the Czechnica CHP plant has been a coal-fired unit. The equipment used in it was worn out and did not meet the standards set out in the EU Executive Commission Regulation 2017/1442 of 31 July 2017 concerning the use of the best available techniques and ensuring the continuity of heat supply for residents and institutions connected to the district heating network.
As part of a project co-financed from the EEA and Norway Funds, the former facility will be replaced by a modern gas-fired combined heat and power plant. The aim of building a cogeneration source with low-emission fuel is to improve the security of energy supply in Siechnice and parts of Wrocław. The unit under construction is to consist of a gas-steam unit, a peak-reserve boiler plant and a heat accumulator.
The project is of great importance for the protection of our planet, as it aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 622,005.90 tonnes per year and save 598,928.89 MWh of primary energy per year.
Examples of effects
- new high-efficiency gas-fired cogeneration unit,
- securing energy supplies for individual consumers,
- reduction in CO2 emissions: 622,005.90 tonnes/year,
- primary energy savings: 598,928.89 MWh/year.
